It had been almost two weeks since Simon had been banished. The days had basically been full of running through the grounds
making sure that Simon had left, and then came the painstaking task of burning the mangled body off the lands of the Pack.
Kirsty was taking the loss hard, not because Simon was gone, but because there was now a rather insane mutt running around,
with the knowledge of the Pack in his mind.
Trey wanted to find him and rip his head off, she was unsure weather that was to impress her, or just to take out some anger
on the Mutt. He broke a silent pack rule and that should have been punishable by death, Trey thought Kirsty was being to light
on the mutt, but she was Alpha and had over ruled him. Plus she let him stay in her room for several nights a week.
Right then Kirsty was sat in the study, rapping her fingers on the mahogany desk while scanning the three papers then came
to the Wolfe Creek supermarket. She was looking for any mention of a death of a 16 to 24 woman. To her left was her Apple
laptop, searching through it was Luce, typing madly away in silence. They’d been doing this on and off for the past
couple of days, a few hours at a time.
Luce sighed and lent back against the desk, rubbing her forehead with the back of her hand,
‘There’s nothing here Kirst,’ she said running a hand loosely through her shoulder length styled hair. Scanning
the screen for the last time then closed it and set it on the desk above her head. Kirsty moved her head in acknowledgement
then turned back to the papers. She did even notice as Luce got up and left, heading for the kitchen for something bacon and
hot.
‘You need to get out and run,’
‘No, I don’t,’ she replied to Trey as he lent against the door frame, muscled arms crossed over a plain
white vest shirt,
‘you wont even look at me Kirsty. Look Simon’s long gone, dead probably, thank god, but you need to concentrate
on what you have now. The pack that’s here, the ones who are worried about you scanning for something that’s not
there!’ as he spoke, Trey stepped into the room, pulled the newspapers off the desk and folded them, chucking them into
the metal bin.
‘TREY!’ Kirsty yelled after he finished with his little show. He stood in the middle of the study, arms folded
over his chest again, frowning a little,
‘You need to get out and run,’ he repeated, looking very contently at her. Kirsty stared back, remaining seated,
feeling the sun beat against her back as midday rolled in again. The back of her elbows itched, the tingling sensations running
down her spine and her thighs, along her legs, literally everywhere.
‘Damn you Trey,’ she muttered, getting up and walking past him. As she went past, Trey grabbed her wrist and pulled
her back, kissing her lightly. She pulled away and went for the door, she turned towards the kitchen but stopped as she heard
the gravel on the drive crunch. Ludi was here, not in New York so it wasn’t her. No one was out in town, who the hell
was it. The door knocked seconds later and Amy was the first too it, she pulled it open and almost gasped.
‘Do you know this man?’ photographs of Simon fluttered onto the table,
‘Yes I do,’
‘What is your relationship with him?’
‘He was staying in one of the guest rooms and paying rent,’ the officer nodded and stopped pacing; he lent forward,
hands flat on the table, staring at Kirsty. She stared back, biting back the urge to smack the officer into the metal table.
Licking her lips she watched the officer with sharp eyes. An hour and a half ago she, Luce and Hawk had been brought to the
small rather make shift like police station in the very middle of Wolfe Creek, the officer in charge, a Lieutenant Parker,
had plans of getting a statement out of each of them, which they would do. But none would admit to the murder of the mangled
body who now had a name
Peggy Tomas. Some cheerleader kid from the high school. None of that really seemed to bother Kirsty, but the fact that in
the room next to her was a rather crazed Simon, possible of shifting anytime soon.
‘Is that right?’
‘Yes officer it is,’ she replied biting back her sarcasm after she said it. Kirsty had scanned the room over 5
times, but did it again, feeling like a trapped animal even more. Facing her was that lovely shiny one way glass, to the left
of that the door in and out, to the right a small about 4 foot by 4 foot window and then the metal table and two metal chairs
in the middle of the room. She smiled at the officer, who had only been addressed as Greg. He pushed back from the table,
faced the one way mirror, back to her and probably made some sort of signal to his boss. Then he left, leaving her alone.
Rubbing the back of her head, Kirsty took in a deep breath and started to concentrate on finding out where the rest of the
pack where. She could feel Luce and Hawks aura about 6 foot each away from her, Luce to her left and Hawk directly in front,
along with the bouncing aura of Simon. Stone Haven was a little to far off to feel but she knew Trey and the rest where there.
Closing her eyes and covering them with one palm she breathed in shallowly and concentrated harder, pushing her mind a little
more. Being a rather practised Alpha she’d picked up a few little tricks along the way. One of those being able to sense
aura, the other was being able to contact by thought, even talk to certain members of the pack. Ones with a particular strong
will, or a little slice of the gift she had. Pushing her mind she felt her thoughts hit something that felt like a wall, but
it was always like that when she got to Treys head.
‘Trey,’ she though hard, repeating his name over and over till he answered,
‘Amy and Ludi are scouting for anymore officers, I’m scanning the net for any wanted sighs on us,’ then
he was gone. Simple and short, such a lovely guy she’d managed to hook up with.
The door slammed open and Parker walked in, flanked by Greg, the shy rather rubbish officer. He stood about 6 foot with about
3 foot broad shoulders, obviously an ex-American football star. His brown hair was swept to the side and was thinning in the
middle along with the occasional white and grey streak. His face looked rather weather worn, small blue eyes that looked weak
and vulnerable. A bad sigh. Kirsty knew she had hard blue eyes, hard eyes, hard person. That what she though any way.
He strode in, pressing hands down the thighs of his dark blue pants, shinny silver buttons and buckles catching the little
light from the small window. He paced a little, watching her, then set himself down on the chair opposite her,
‘Greg says you do know, a erm, Mr. Hogan, next door. He said that Mr. Hogan was say erm, boarding at your house up at
erm Stone Haven –‘
‘Yes he was Officer Parker –‘
‘Lieutenant –‘
‘Yes, well I have told you all I know, and I’m sure that my cousins have as well, is there any chance that we
can go home? We are expecting company,’ she gave her sweetest smile and gave herself a mental pat on the back, hopefully
Hawk and Luce had heard that speech over mental waves and knew what to go along with now.
‘Yes well erm, of course, sorry to disrupt your day M’s Robert. Greg show her out,’ Parker said, not bothering
to stand up. Kirsty stood, smiled and went for the door before Greg had even left Parkers back. She let herself into the corridor
as Hawk and Luce came out of their rooms. The door to Kirsty right slammed and bowed, cracking a little. She stopped as she
heard screaming behind it.
Three Years ago – New York
There was screaming behind a closed door, bitter high screaming and she knew it was all her fault. Huddling against the wall,
head covered by her bloodied arms. Aaron was stood near her, speaking to her pack Alpha, a rather bulky man named Butler.
Kirsty didn’t know if that was his actual name, but everyone called it him, even Aaron who wasn’t part of the
pack. Just some Vampire who’d found her and brought her to the shelter of the New York pack. They where talking in hushed
voices, far to low even for her to hear.
The screams where starting to dye down, but they where still there. The person who screamed was the person she’d bitten.
Shuddering she gripped her forearms with her nails, till she felt the skin break. Butler stood in front of the door, sighed
and tugged it open. Aaron pulled her up and pushed her towards the door. Laid on the rather mucky looking mattress was a young
boy, no older then 15 or so, his hair was black and matted with sweat to his forehead, his lower stomach was slightly mangled,
but that look was given off by the sheer amount of blood that plastered his whitening skin. The four fang marks that where
clear to see had each swollen to the size of eggs on his flat stomach. His body bowed again and he threw himself upwards,
panting hard as he stared right as Kirsty blood soaked face, right at her blood flaked red hair, right into her hardening
blue and yellow ringed eyes. She turned and ran, leaving that pack.
She wouldn’t forget that boys face, she wouldn’t forget his screams of pain. She wouldn’t forget the first
person she turned.
Now – Wolfe Creek Police Station
The door bowed and cracked even more as something was flung against it. Police officers had now gathered around, awaiting
Simons break for freedom. Kirsty was stood back to the wall, gripping the wall paper slightly,
‘Kirst you alright?’ Luce muttered, tugging at her Alpha’s wrist. Kirsty looked at her and shook her head,
a loose part of her red hair, falling over her eyes,
‘Simons shifted,’ Kirsty muttered, stepping forward, regaining her compositor and readying herself for Simons
break out. Officers would dye, they wouldn’t. either side of her, Alpha and Beta readied them selves after her lead.
